A trip to Ukiah included a visit to the graves of some ancestors. Among the elaborate monuments of the past, about a dozen deer calmly rest together between rounds of grazing and browsing.
On a visit to mom's place, a very pregnant doe and her handmaid showed little fear, even as I tried to get to my vehicle without causing undue alarm. Move along, ladies...

Oh Elaine, this is so wonderful. You made my day. Every cemetery should have a resident deer herd.
I'm amazed they seem so comfortable with humans. Wonderful, Elaine!
The pregnant does are all over up here too. And I guess the "handmaids" are last years' daughters?
I love them. They used to come to my mother's house in Oregon and eat her garden. She didn't mind them but her neighbors always tried to shoo them away. I'd rather have deer than flowers any day.
