Love this promise of food for the winter.
Memories of us vols pitching square bales onto the slowly moving truck at Heifer Ranch.
Always on the hottest day of the year.

So bucolic! Yes, haying happens in the heat, doesn't it, Dina? I remember watching at my Uncle's ranch in Montana and thinking "wow, those are real cowboys."

This was on the Navarro Ridge, near Albion, less than two miles from the ocean. They've been sitting out in these fields for over a month, and don't seem to be going anywhere. Not as much livestock around as there used to be. Thanks, sisters.

The moisture off the ocean doesn't cause issues of mold? That was always an issue at the stables...moldy hay
