Near the site of the new hospital under construction, the Frank R. Howard Foundation oversees a beautiful garden, formed with the work and vision of volunteers and now partly staffed by the hospital itself. Most of the vegetables go to the hospital. Additional photos to come…

Mendocino Village Water Tower


In the 1960s, an artist who settled in the village established a coin-operated laundry on the ground level of this water tower building. I remember going there with my mom, and sitting in the sheltered garden behind it, admiring the mounds of nasturtiums.
