Bright Borscht


One of my favorite soups, when prepared by Ardella's Diner.

Hmm. I am not a lover of creamy things. I'll have mine without the cream stuff, please. And yes yes yes I'll have that grilled cheese.

Hah! P! It's herbed yogurt, dolloped on top. Easy to prevent its appearance, although I love it. You can have the pickle spear and one half of the sandwich, and I'll have the other with the soup.

Yum! I was just talking with my daughter about the Russian influences in NorCal and how I used to have borscht for lunch at the Russian Miniature Bakery on Clement Street in SF when I worked on California St. Ardella's version looks harty and beautiful.
