Old Rose

As far as my mother knows, this rosebush has been growing at her place ever since the property was a stagecoach hotel, saloon, and dance hall site back in the 1800s. Some years the leaves and flowers are more robust than others, but it persists through thick and thin.

It sounds like your mother's place should be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

That is so cool. A true heirloom. You could take cuttings and pass them on. I suspect it blooms once a year?

btw: I'm dressed for the rapture. I want to go go

P, not quite *that* historic, since the hotel building burned down in 1961. But it's nice to find remnants of the earlier days.

PA, my mom has started this rose in two other places nearby, so fingers crossed that they will offer some survival insurance.

P.S. - Sorry this jumped to the top again. I needed to fix a funky label/tag on it.
