I love how symmetrical ag plantings are, but I miss the pear trees. They were a century-long tradition in the Ukiah Valley, but not as profitable as wine grapes now.

You said it was an orchard--had the pear trees once been planted symmetrically, like these vines?

In rows, certainly, but with mature, branching trees it was hard to look for this kind of spreading symmetry.
