Colorful Cornice

Down in Ukiah on Friday, I grabbed this shot out my window as I waited for the traffic light to change. My great grandfather's blacksmith shop was near here, in the early 20th century.

Very interesting details and color combination. That bright blue sky is beautiful!

Thank you both!

Wow, that's one you have to enlarge. I don't suppose you could show a picture of your great grandfather's blacksmith shop?

Sad to say, his shop building is long gone. The whole street where it was is now flanked by parking lots. There isn't even an old photo in our family collections. But I did see it once in an old 16mm "home" movie of panning shots of Ukiah, from around 1940. Not much to look at.

Still, a photo of it would be a treasure, I'd think. My brother owns a photo of the shack my grandparents had in western Kansas when my dad was a kid. Not much to look at, but I can't take my eyes off it.
